This months’ healthcare IT round-up includes various healthcare organisations entering into contracts with suppliers such as Avon Breast Screening renewing their partnership with imaging provider Insignia Medical Systems, Carestream supporting DMCI with a new cloud-based service and City Hospitals Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust benefiting from its new IT self check-in kiosks.

Avon Breast Screening renew with Insignia

UK based enterprise imaging provider Insignia Medical Systems has entered into new contract with Avon Breast Screening (ABS).

ABS, one of the biggest breast departments in the country, first signed with Insignia in 2010, and have confirmed a further five-year managed service contract with PACS provider Insignia. The ABS programme which invites more than 140,000 women from the area for breast screening is based in the Bristol Breast Care Centre at Southmead Hospital. Clare McLachlan, acting superintendent at ABS said they selected Insignia because they provide excellent support with regular updates.

Carestream supports DMCI with new cloud-based service

Carestream Health has signed a five-year contract to provide a new cloud-based technical reporting service for tele-radiology company DMC Imaging (DMCI).

DMCI is a UK-based firm that provides remote tele-radiology reporting services for the NHS and independent healthcare providers. Its team of more than 50 radiologists provide sub-specialty radiologist reporting services throughout the UK. The company has purchased a Carestream Vue cloud service that will provide a reporting platform for radiologists, supported by modules for peer review, billing and business analytics. The business analytics capabilities it incorporates will give DMCI a real-time view of how its business is performing. It also includes a fully integrated billing module for the company’s clients and radiologists.

City Hospitals Sunderland trust welcomes IT self check-in solution

City Hospitals Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust has deployed an IT self check in solution to help improve efficiency and reduce patient queues.

The patient self check-in kiosks, provided by Intouch with Health, are interfaced with the trust’s fully integrated Meditech electronic patient record solution and is now live across the organisation. The trust’s director of information management and technology Andy Hart said the self check-in devices have been extremely well received by patients and staff, and are allowing the trust to not only realise internal efficiencies, but introduce a solution which works well for the patients themselves.

Your.MD closes funding for $10 million led by Orkla Ventures

Your.MD, an AI health information service, has completed its latest round of funding, having raised $10 million led by Orkla Ventures.

The investment will be used to support the growth of Your.MD’s health information platform and to consolidate its position at the forefront of Artificial Intelligence (AI) development in the digital health sector. Matteo Berlucchi, Your.MD’s CEO said: “This invaluable partnership with Orkla enables us to build upon the immense strides we’ve made over the last two years to offer mobile phone users access to personal and trusted pre-primary care guidance, all across the world.” Orkla is a supplier of branded consumer goods to the health, pharmacy, grocery, confectionary, specialised retail and bakery sectors in the Nordics, Baltics and selected markets in Central Europe.

Servelec award five sub lots to the new NHS London Procurement Partnership framework

Servelec HSC, a provider of health, social care and education software, has been awarded five sub lots to the new Clinical and Digital Information Systems Framework Agreement (CDIS), launched by NHS London Procurement Partnership (LPP).

The aim of LPP is to provide procurement support to its members including acute, mental health and community NHS organisations and CCGs. Servelec’s electronic record patient (EPR) solution, RiO, was successful in all of the Lot 1 categories in LPP’s CDIS framework which includes the mental health, community health and child health sub lots. Alan Stubbs, CEO at Servelec HSC, said they are delighted to be awarded five sub lots to help provide amodern and flexible suite of software solutions across mental health, community health, child healthand acute care.
